Gentlemen - I see there are some offers to lend out aerated coolers. I'll take one and buy the owner a beer any time.
As an option, could I suggest we find a way to weigh/photo the fish and release immediately. As a group of people that enjoy fishing, we should be concerned about sustainability. By taking some steps that protect the fish, we will be doing something to protect a sport we all enjoy (and setting a good example for others).
If Putaforkinya, as organizer, is open to such an approach - I'd be happy to investigate methodologies used by other tournaments. As well, I'd even offer to supply the technology (notebooks, tablets and Wi-Fi) to allow us to catch, photo/weigh, and release.
We are not fishing for big prizes so a technology-release approach could work. It feels like everyone on this thread is good people. And if someone really wants to cheat for a couple hundred dollars, they will find a way regardless.

Thoughts?
I would say reach out to DG as he was the one offering the cooler/areitor.
and as for the concern you have for the safety of the fish, I totally want to do everything in my power to make sure we are not hurting the Kawartha bass fishery in any way. how ever unfortunately it is the only way to accurately declare a winner. many bass tournaments are held on this lake and many other lakes often and have shown to be a very hearty fish. In saying that we definitely do not want to stress them out or hurt them in any way more than we need to to have this fun event. this is why I the livewells are checked prior to blast off to make sure that they are in working condition (also for cheaters lol)
I do recommend that people fishing not only this tournament but others as well use a product like "please release me" to help keep the fish keep calm and safe. I have been using products like this in tournaments for years and have only ever had one fish die and that was due to the fish swallowing the hook. if your fish is staying calm and not stressing out it is not losing any of it's important slime or anything else which will in turn increase it's level of survival.
here is a link to the product I use and a quick copy and paste of what it does to help your fish out. you can get it at bass pro shops. link Use In Livewells and Weigh-In Tanks To Help Keep Bass Alive
•Calms Your Catch •Replaces Slime Coat •Helps Heal Hook Wounds •Reduces Weight Loss •Removes Chlorine •Readily Dissolves The most advanced product on the market today, PLEASE RELEASE ME™ is found nationwide in the hands of both professionals and amateurs. Handsomely packaged, reasonable priced and with proven effectiveness, PLEASE RELEASE ME™ is the present and the future in catch and release formulas.
With superior dissolving capabilities, improved calming effects and an overwhelming ability to remove both heavy metals and pesticides (both of which can be especially harmful in coves or canals), PLESE RELEASE ME™ is the choice of champions. Use PLEASE RELEASE ME™ in both livewells and weigh-in tanks as both a conservation measure and to assure that tournament points are not lost due to dead bass. Technically, PLEASE RELEASE ME™ will:
•Calm your hard caught tournament catch so that injury in the livewell is reduced. •Reduce losses from stress by the all important addition of electrolytes back into the bass. •Helps bass from regurgitating stomach contents which helps stop weight loss. •Immediately removes any harmful chlorine which may be present from melting ice. •Helps heal both hook and net wounds. •Replaces the all important natural slime coat of the bass. To use, simply add one teaspoon to 10 gallons of water. One cupful treats 500 gallons of water. If you are using a recirculating livewell, add more PLEASE RELEASE ME™ when water no longer appears bluish green. Keep container closed when not in use.
In addition to the use of PLEASE RELEASE ME™, we also recommend that the following helpful hints be studied and practiced to help keep more bass alive:
•Keep the water cool, especially during warmer months with ice. If water is 75°F or higher, cool water by 15°F. •Always wet hands before handling bass to reduce the effects of removing any slime coating. •Handle bass carefully trying not to rub bass against abrasive objects such as carpet on boat. •Place a pinch of PLEASE RELEASE ME™ on local wounds to help in the healing process. •If holding bass by lower jaw, lift in perfectly vertical position. If you must hold in horizontal direction, then help support under stomach with free hand. Otherwise, damage may occur to lower jaw.

How nice of Xzone, love their product especially for hard water. So are they officially the first sponsor for Gold bass tournament?
Mackfisher, credit to you too for helping make this happen.

Thanks Thanh. Yes they will be sponsoring it and as I probably won't have a boat ready for that day I'll be assisting Matt with the registration/ weigh-in. Hope to see you guys catch some pigs that day! Don't forget to check out xzones website I hear the Kawartha smallies love their slammers!

It's supposed to be 100% payout but what does everyone think plaques for the winners? about me taking like 2% out of the pot to get plaques for the winners?
Just a thought but thinking it might be cool for the winner to have a keep sake.
Let me know soon as I'd have to have them made real soon.
