Definitely not saying that noone else does it or anything like that and the only reason I even brought it up is because 2lbs would be over the Canadian record that has witheld for 21 years and to do it for a fishing trip on "average" would be to me a little bit of a stretch.
But that's enough of that. I wasn't trying to take away from your great day and great catch as it was. Anytime you go home with a bunch of thick tasty gills like that you know it was a successful trip.
Ah you Bass Boys! Lol Those gills are larger than your PIKE entries! Lmao.Nice catch WF

my children grew up fishing for blue-gill but, I don't think they could have handled these in 40' of water now it's my granddaughter's turn in the shallows

Ok now that's better the picture of the gill in your hand shows the size a lot better having gills of similar size here in Ohio (few spots) that gill pictured is over a pound without question but 2 lbs no and any lake that has gills like that could very well hold the new record regardless of what people think you have your self one heck of a honey hole for gills thanks for posting the rest of the pictures keep them coming 👍

That one pic on the hand is a beauty bluegill that's for sure. Congrats.
Can we get a length on that one? I've been catching some big (to me) gills. I'm only talking 9" though. Measured on a flat board. Is that one 10 or 11"?
I've never seen them bigger than 9" in my little pond. I'd probably have to go elsewhere to catch bigger.

I got to stop reading these post.... I told myself I am done fishing for a while and concentrate on working. Now all I can do is check the weather and think where to go. I do not target gills but all I can think right now is pan fishing with an ultra light. Between WF and DB I have lost my mind!

f4d when you clump me with db then it's an honor and thanks for the complement. I'm by nature a pan fisherman and a crappie fisherman when it comes to enjoying a great fish-fry. I'm striving to get to where db is - I'm not joking when I say I'm his #1 fan. The crappie he cathes in just unbeleiviable. Hopefully this weekend I can reach him in his catches, as far as measuring I really never really measure them but I would say the one in my hand is roughly 10-12" maybe. They eat well in Jan.
I have two more weeks before my site shuts down - winterize, bring home the boat and if I'm lucky catch a good day on lake erie for the fall run of jack perch before the weather gets nuts.
I've had a decent 2016 and have learned much from the bass masters on this site I read it all. THANKS
My "honey-do days" are just around the corner you can count on that! Hopefully I can woe her with a great fish fry cause thats all I got left!!!

On the contrary my two pike were bigger than any of your three. The problem was I couldn't find a third one if I did you would it have been singing the blues. I guess you will have to save them for next year because I will catch 3 plus the ones that you miss in your paddle a kayak
