Hey folks. So I'm New fishing to area got. Boat small motor been fishing a lot but not getting great results. Im from up north wear don't need much skill to catch fish cause the lakes i fish are packed with bass. Here I lucky to get 3. Most my bass i get are 1.5- 3 lbs. How do I get over the 3lbs Mark? I'm using senkos and spinner baits . fish deeper water?. Ussually target near shore. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. I've fished rice lake a little. To big for my boat. Otanabee. Sydney lake big cedar lake. I've had my best luck at otanabee into rice lake area.

Hi Mirdar, and welcome to the board.
I haven't fished Rice Lake in a while but I used to have good luck throwing jerk baits at the mouth of the Otonabee during this time of year.
During the summer you might want to try some protected back bays in some of the other Kawartha Lakes, as many of them are protected from bad weather and will help you stay safe while providing you with the chance of fishing water that holds the shelter necessary for big fish to thrive in.
Don't be afraid to expand your lure selection as well; my biggest fish this year came on topwaters and jerk baits. Usually anything in a natural pattern like shad or perch will perform well in the Kawartha's.
