Fished a new location today, managed to catch a few largies and a bonus 15" musky as the sun went down. All the fish were still relating to shallow water cover and hitting topwaters fished on a slow and steady retrieve. I lost one decent sized one, probably around 3lbs or so, fishing a small back bay.
Cheers, and enjoy any time you spend on the water!

Thanks for the report, it will help me in my search. I haven't been out for over a month, was going to start looking deep but sounds like there still up shallow. I can't wait to do some fall fishing. Interesting that the bass get darker this time of year , wonder what causes it , water temp, metabolism slowing down, or weeds dying off.

Thanks to everyone for the replies.
I fish public places to show people that they don't necessarily have to have access to a boat in order to catch some fish and have fun along the way. Thing is, just about every public water access spot in the Kawartha's has largies like this around along with panfish that are really easy to catch.
That said, part of the 25 year plan is to buy a boat. Nothing big or flashy, probably just a side console Lund with a small hp motor and a seat up front with a trolling motor so that I can still access some of the backwaters that I'm fishing right now...
Hoping that everyone gets some time fishing this time of year! I'm heading out again today to the same area to fish a couple more spots that hopefully aren't impacted by the wind too much.
