With the weather being perfect on Sunday I grabbed my gf, our fishing/foraging hound, a scoop of minnows and after changing a trailer tire we were on our way to our favourite crappie lake. I guess everyone else had the same idea and when we got there i couldnt find a place to park...started thinking of what to do and I see a man coming off the lake. After a short chat he had his boat out of the water and I had a place to park. Fishing started off really slow with just one crappie in an hour and a half even though we were marking them pretty good but then picked up. We managed 25 crappie and 2 good sized rock bass. Was a gorgeous day out on the water and I hope to get a few more in before the ice comes.

Ready to eat. That was only half of the fillets and we couldn't finish them all with just the two of us.

Great job start to finish.
You got leftovers you say. PM me your address, I can help you with that JK. Seriously though, where do you get your Old Bay seasoning. Any time I've looked for it . . . I've come up empty.

I really like the texture and taste of the skin when I fry them. Crappie is by far the easiest fish to scale. They come right off in 2 swipes of the knife per side. I agree it's messy and time consuming but for me it's worth it.
