Dropped my phone in the lake

Caught a 5 pound bass yesterday, went to take a pic of it and my phone slipped out of my hand and went into the drink. Anyone needing to get in touch with me please pm me your number.

The pro is that I think I have it all on go pro. The cons my drivers license,MasterCard were in the case, I didn't have my pictures backed up and so have 4 years worth of fishing pics and WORST of all all of my pics and videos of my daughter from the day she was born were on it.

I am seriously considering diving in to try and find it. If anyone has any cold water diving advice or knows where I could rent oxygen it would be much appreciated. Thanks

Too bad about the phone - not sure what phone you have but get the google photos app and set it up to auto upload your photos - you'll have all your photos in the cloud whenever you want them. Fish on!

WOW! That is the only word that came to me.

billybarkman is correct. If you have a android phone than you "may" be able to retrieve everything back. Sign in/up for google photo and it will be able to retrieve all those photos on your phone. Man, you've had a tough year with stuff!

I tipped my canoe over earlier this year, lost my phone, and truck keys.. (wallet stayed in my back pocket)

Losing the keys was the worst part given I was 4 hours from Toronto. a Nightmare.

I now put my phone in a waterproof case and everything else goes into a fanny pack that's tied to my waste.

Had to learn the hard way.

Sucks when that happens. Also just happened to my old man on the weekend. He got out of the boat on an island, then got back in and we drove off, 5 minutes later he's like "where's my phone?" We went back to the island and it was submerged at the shoreline. Amazingly enough, his phone still works, and it looks like he's only missing a couple of pics. iPhone 5S.

I wish you the best of luck in finding it. If/when you do, throw it in a bag of rice for a week. Then take it to a tech. Who knows? Maybe it'll come back.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. The crazy thing is I have never ever ever lost a phone. I ruined one once before and that was falling through the ice on simcoe but had memory card in it so didn't lose anything. Been very responsible with phones for the 17 years I've had one and I guess that's y I've been so comfortable with it and not backing anything up. This one hurts though out of all my bad luck this one Aires partially on the side of wrecklessness rather than bad luck. I was excited to catch that massive bass but also was rushing to try and release him quickly and my phone just jumped straight out of my hand.

I will definitely look into getting that goggle app. I had 4000 pics and videos which I was not about to pay dropbox to upload. I had pics from my last 2 phones on there as well. It's a galaxy 5 which is waterproof to one meter. Phone will be toast but it's just the memory card I want.

It was dropped in 8 FOW and buried itself nicely in the weeds in the open water, a 43 degree swim is destined so that I don't have another sleepless night thinking about it. Will make for a good story if I'm successful. If not I can at least say I tried and can just chalk it up to more from the dark cloud

If you're going to dive for it, please please make certain that whoever is with you has a sturdy rope tied to you so if you're submerged for longer than a 10 seconds he can pull you up. Your muscles will not like 43 degree water and just stop functioning. Good luck with the search and that retrieval app.

Sorry to hear that Matt.You are having a interesting year that's for sure.I lost a iPhone down the hole a few years ago.Mine was a goner for sure 90ft of water at a Big Bay Point.Its a horrible feeling when you see it heading down to Davie Jones locker.It might be worth hiring a diver to see if he can retrieve it.

You are having some tough luck as of late. keep plugging away and things are bound to get better.

What lake did you drop it in? There may be a dive club in the area that could help you out.

Worst case is put the big buddy heater in the boat and go out with a buddy.

I would not just jump in. You could have a heart attack.

A thought............

Get a wide net with a 4 - 6 foot handle.

Tape a 10 foot aluminum tube stock to it. Use strong tape.

Spray paint a few small rocks a florescent colour and drop in area where you can see / guess where the camera is sitting.

Drag the bottom gently / slowly.

Geezus Matt, as if you haven't had enough bad luck this year this might be the worse luck yet. Easy enough to replace the phone, license and credit card but to lose all those pictures and videos is tough. I feel for you buddy, good luck if you try and retrieve it.

And it's good to know that u guys understand that 43 degrees is cold. My gf knows I'm a good swimmer and was like why didn't u jump in. Mind u she may still have been in shock from me losing all of our baby pictures and videos. And my step dad who's ex navy asked me what the water temp was and I said 43 responded with "good at least the water isn't that cold yet"
