Scugog Ice

Anyone know how Scugog ice is coming along? heard it was frozen over last week should be firming up now. Come on ice!

I haven't seen the lake lately but I drove over the scugog river on hwy 7 in lindsay this morning and it was frozen over as far as I could see, so I imagine the lake is iced over

It's a start..... Let's hope things continue and we can all be on the ice before the end of the year!
I've already got my Christmas gift and I also have a few new toys I'm dying to try out!
This itch is not too bad yet as I was able to fish one last time last Sunday on Simcoe with a few buddies!
It was cold but we did manage to catch a few jumbos!

Just stopped in Caesarea to check on the ice. Couldn't see any open water. I broke a hole off the end of the pier at the public launch and there is about 2 1/2" of good ice so far.

Sounds great! Hope can start before new year, all my toys are ready. Can't wait to try the Helix 5 on ice.

Same here! the Helix works really well. One little thing I do, is I will bring a couple hand warmers and place them inside the bag (I have the portable one) to keep the battery warm so it doesn't damage (if I don't flip the tent over, I move a lot so sometimes exposed batteries can damage). It works fantastic! especially if you have the ice transducer.

Thanks for the hand warmer idea. I have the ice transducer used to work with my 698ci last season, it works ok, I heard the Helix will work better, hope it's true.

Will be heading that way to scout it out tomorrow afternoon.

All this cold weather is giving me the itch to get on the ice.

All this snow that's predicted tonight isn't helping.

Hopefully we will b able to get on some safe ice before the new year

What species do you guys fish for on the frozen Scugog?

Any beginner tips?
