Hey everyone,

I was out fishing yesterday trying out some new gear. I was using my brand new frabill Straight Line 101xla reel and some of my line somehow got into the drag mechanism.

Does anyone else use this reel? Have you experienced this issue before?

Thanks

Its a constant problem with the "lower" end pin styled reels! You can use thicker line or if you have it on the reel, there is a spool tension to keep the spool from spinning to quickly in free-spool!

I think this one will just have to go back to where it came from.

I think I might just put the money towards a better inline reel.

If you look down the page a bit at the rapala concept multiplier thread there's some great infor and opinions on a few different models of inline reels

I was following that thread and I am sure the more expensive in line reels are great. I figured I would try a lower end model to see if I liked it.

I have been researching them and I like the free spool trigger on the black Betty but it may be overkill for a perch rig.

The no 8 tackle cgi reel that came up later in the thread seems like it may be a good compromise...seems decent quality and has lots of features for 44 bux...probably less next week with boxing day deals and what not...

That looks like an excellent reel for the price.
