I just finished making this auger (at work lol) but now i have to wait till after work to give it a try, hopefully its good to go now, tried it last night but needed a slight modification (needed a bigger centre piece, the triangle) it'll be nice to only bring this out for perch, if the ice isnt too thick, instead of lugging the gas or hand auger
Just curious for ideas, if anyone else have homemade things they made?

The base looks great, really well built too! I'm just wondering if your welding on a bar on the back of it? With the setup on the drill now, you'll be arm deep in the hole trying to punch threw it.
******** EDIT If you want to test it, go by a frozen block! Lol Or make one in an old plastic tote, then you can make real time adjustments at home.

Better have good reflexes to pull his arm out fast or he's gonna have a wet arm

Lmfao, Kier yup! Knowing my luck with the shock of the cold water, I'd let go of the drill! 🎣🍻

Another thing to think about is the likelihood of the drill chuck backing off and losing your whole auger down the hole. You may want something an inch bigger diameter to sit above it. I used a 2 gal bucket lid that was 9.75 in for my 8 in auger when I adapted it for a power drill

Thanks! Its pretty sturdy, but I still need to make an extension for it, with some sort of free turning handle, i wanted to see how it works first, its not bad, it'd be a bit better if i cut the hole bigger for the shavings to go through, and hopefully wont have to, but i might have to cut and make another blade for the opposite side . I used a 5/16 bolt and cut the head off and used 3 union nuts (with heavy duty locktite) and did a small weld on the triangle to the base Also the union nuts help hold better in the chuck of the drill

I'm going to make an extension for it and make some kind of free turning handle/stopper for it, in case it DOES come off. the pail lid is a really good idea which i might just use if dont make the handle soon
