Clam fish trap vs shappell fx 200

I am looking at buying used either clam fish trap or a shappell fx200.

I would like to pose the question out to everyone which would you recommend?

I have a Clam Nanook and am extremely pleased with its preformance.. I am going to be bias on this one and recommend the Clam product although I have not heard of the other manufacturer.

Good luck.. if you are upgrading from a pop up hut to sled style you will be very happy

Yah I have had 2 pop up styles and this will be my first flip over hut so NB I'm just doing my homework......I'm a little bias as well seeing as I have only used clam stuff as well but though I would see what people thought!

Best value for your buck..

Used it in -20 temps with a little buddy heater, could fished in your shorts.
Warm, dry, plenty of room for 2.
Biggest, toughest sled for flip over shelters.
It's made in Michigan.

I'm very satisfied.

Really liked the looks and weight of the Shappell FX100, too bad no one around here carries them...

i have a 1.5 Shappell Rover. Had it for 8 years now and love it. Tough as hell and lots of room. i have a built in flip bemch that is actually pretty comfortable.

I too own a shappell rover150 as Rippin Lipps, 8 yrs old , abused n well used still holding up! Plus you can go online and order parts if needed. Picked mine up in Michigan where they are made. Very happy with my unit... Advise if purchasing either Clam or shappell, buy the high fax for the sled...you'll get many years of life on your sled instead of wearing out the bottom. Hope this helps! I dunno if you have made your decision, but i have a clam and all i heard about was what great customer service, so i tried testing it out as the clip holes in the bracket that holds the tent out forward was drilled to the side. i emailed them and they shipped a replacement part practically no questions asked. they really have great customer service. just needed the model i have and necessary questions, and they shipped it out no charge.

That being said, I cannot remember what model i have but i have a 2 man sled/tent fold over combo and it works great! black out inside which really helps if you are a sight fisherman and it has enough space i could get 3 holes going at once. the chairs are comfy enough, ive spent enough days out there from dawn to dusk and i am a run and gunner, when perch fishing on simcoe. it sets up and folds up in less than 2 minutes and have had it in windy conditions. only problem ive head is sometimes when its windy the front of the tent will pop up, but i just put my gas auger on the front and it holds it down great. i could use pegs but id have to take them out and put them back in.

all in all, i havent had the other tent you mentioned but i would buy this one again in a heart beat! I do not have the insulated one, but nothing that a mr heater wont fix. i only use my heater when its cold out, -15 or below.

I don't think you can go wrong with a clam.All I can recommend is ,if your a walker forget all the bells and whisals and get the lightest model you can get your hands on.

I agree with Miro. If you usually fish by yourself, get a single man. if you party fish with 4+ who dont have their own gear, get a pop-up tent. If you have a snow mobile, dont worry about it. I walk out and the 2 man with a gas auger is perfect. they come with one rope to grab and pull with your hand, but i made an extension with two ropes and put them around my shoulders as a harness type. much easier to pull

Well gentlemen I have this great new shappel flip over hut and I am losing my patience with this mother nature @#$_X.

Just want to break it in but nooooooooo.

Anyways anyone else get anything new for this year they still can use yet?
