Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone had any preference on ice fishing line. Right now I have a neon lime green fishing line on my rod which I didn't have much luck with and I am thinking of going with a more traditional line.
I really want to catch some Lake Trout this winter . Any suggestions and recommendations are greatly appreciated

I use berkley fireline. Lb of test depends on species. 6-10 for trout. I tie on a flouro leader. I had my best success on white and smoke for line colours.

Tried it last year. Take the line and run Vaseline before spool onto the reel. Water will freeze but will get scraped off at the eye easily. After the ice season over throw the line away and re spool again. Vaseline stays on the line and won't spook the fish.

I've never had fireline or powerpro break on a fish. Hell I've hauled logs with that stuff. The only reason I change it, is when it starts getting frayed and discolored, even then I don't think it would break. That stuffs crazy expensive I get my monies worth.

I use 10-20lb Suffix braid with 10lb floro leader on 2 rods and 6lb Powerpro braid with 6lb mono leader one another. On my 4th rod I'm trying out 8lb Suffix braid ice line with 8lb floro (came as a 2 pack).

I go with 10 x 10 x 10. 10 lbs power pro braid main line followed by 10 feet of 10 lbs flouro leader. No backing line, my main line is tied right to the reel.
