Antler collection, Antlers from a life time

Guys, I'm looking for some input here...Over the years and many successful hunts I have accumulated a large quanity of deer antlers.. they range from 4pt to 10 pt ..

Time has come to down size and at present I'm at odds what to do with these antlers, to date 40 sets (season's not over yet )..

The laws do not allow sale of antlers in a whole state but I would welcome any type of thanks ..

I support kids groups and the under privledged , perhaps there is a way to see this end..

Would welcome direction to have a scene done on one of my moose racks..

Your input /suggestions would be appreciated by Pm or on the board ..

Hope the mods will leave this up even if the wrong catagory , the simcoe section draws the most views and that,s where I want it..

I've helped out at Darlington Provincial park and would bet the naturalist could use them. I'd also guess that other parks could use them as well. Kids and adults seemed to be drawn to stuff like that.

Donate to cabelas or bass pro then they will be on display for thousands to see and enjoy

I've seen antler pieces in pet stores being sold for big $$$'s. I think they sell them for dog chew toys. Also could be used in making furniture fixtures.. Knobs,chandeliers,handles,etc. Their are many uses for antlers.... use your imagination ! Good luck! BTW .... Great collection over the years!!!!🙂👍

You could call some antler carver's there are some out there and man what a cool piece you would have..

I also know of a couple of artist's that are local that I will contact today for you to see if they would put a painting/scene on it for you on the moose antlers.. Not sure of your budget but these options are not cheap but they would be one of a kind..... All get back to you later in the day with what I find out....

A few weeks ago my wife and I where shopping for a new chandelier for the dinning room in a shop in Vaughn. There were two chandeliers in there made out of deer antlers one retailed for $8,000 the other $6,000. To the right buyer those antlers might be worth more than you think. Definitely something you might want to look into before you give those things away.

I've seen some very high end knives on Youtube where the handles are made from antlers.

I understand you can't sell them, but I'm sure someone out there can make good use of them.

A great place for a donation of some items etc would be the Vivian Forest Outdoor Centre, just east off highway 48, south of Davis Dr. Its run by the York Region District School Board and they run outdoor ed. programs for elementary aged school kids. I was there volunteering to help out my sons classroom last fall ( I helped them identify an old fisher skin they had for years but never knew what it was...)and its a great place. They have lots of old furs, a few stuffed specimens etc, which all have been donated by members of the community, just like you. They take the kids on hikes through the local forest and identify tracks, talk about prey/predator relationships, wilderness shelter building etc etc. I was really impressed and there was no political correctness in the teaching etc., which I was quite surprised at.

What a great collection. There are tons of great youth programs/camps in different areas that I am sure would love to have something like this for the kids to look at/learn about. Such a generous offer is bound to make the day for many to come.

Funny your not allowed to sell because I see this on sale at Lowe's for $1555.00 deer antler chandelier..
So what's up with that... Myself I would not be so quick to get rid of them.. Like one mentioned the antlers are used to make handles for knives...

I don't have a quote to back me up but I thought once you use the antler to make something else like a knife handle or carving or chandelier you are no longer selling the antler it is part of a piece of artwork and you are allowed to sell the artwork.

If true what's the difference.... Crazy to me..

The no selling rules in effect to stop poaching for sale of meat and antlers, poachers wouldn't take the time to make art work out of them they'd just sell them. That's the difference atleast how I see it
