The fact there is no ice on the main part of Simcoe may be a good thing.

In the last 10 days here at Horseshoe Valley, we have had nearly 2ft of snow.

If there had been a thin layer of ice on the lake it would have been pushed down by the weight of the snow and it would have insulated things and hampered further ice development.

My "guess" in early Dec., was safe ice on the Oro Shore by Jan. 23.

I'll stick with that.

Ya even on the lakes with ice this is going to be a mess if we get as much rain as they were calling for last I checked

rain next 2 days could be good get rid of any snow lying on ice and start over for freeze up of lakes with some good cold and no winds should not take long

Just went and checked tudhope ...a few huts out there ...snow wasn't as bad as I expected ...there was at least 8 in the hole I checked. Hopefully get out tomorrow for a bit before the rain comes.

At Sobeys, they have fresh fish on ice, no auger needed.

Ice wasn't too bad today at all ...quite a few sleds out on cooch. Managed a bit of a meal after wading through the dinks. Can't seem to upload a pic.

i was off of airport today, not many jumbos we got more pike then perch, same with other ppl around us.,, i had 8 " of ice where we setup as well.
