Got a big buddy heater this week, noticed that you can put two 1 lbs propane tanks inside. Anyone have experience with how long 2 tanks will last. Just wondering if I need to bring more propane or can I load in 2 tanks for the day and go.

I'd bring at least 1 more tank. I believe the big buddys can run on just the one tank and not necessarily have to have 2 in the unit for it to work. I recall draining 2 full 1 pound tanks just past mid way on a fishing day trip before. glad we had the extra tanks.

If your using it on high they say 2 tanks need to be hooked up. I bought a 5lbs tank and on high it last around 8hrs. I use it to heat my double car garage and will heat it to 70 after a couple hours. Use the fan and you'll probably never put it on high

X2 You will save much more $ if you buy a 5 lbs tank and hose. Those 1 lbs tanks cost about $4 a piece. To fill a 5 lbs tank at Costco cost $2.60. The 5 lbs tank last 8 hours on high.

Yeah ive been definitely looking at getting a hose, the adapter, and a 5lbs tank. But till then I got a couple spare 1 lbs and figured getting a 3 pack of the 1 lbs will get me by till I get all the other stuff. Just wondered how long two actually last. I usually fish no hut and heater but I bought both this year as I want to do a lot more fishing this winter.

X2 on the 20lbr. Sucks for lugging it around. A 20lbr would get me about a month spending every friday saturday night in my hut. Little buddy is better for portables if thatz your setup.

About 4-5 hrs at 1/2 with odd burst to full for 1 bottle.

What size hut are you heating with it. I can go thru 2 if not 3 on a cold day. 1#ers are convienient but can add up in a hurry. Pays for the hose in a hurry or some have mentioned a fill adapter for the 1#ers.

If you do a trip states side you can get an adaptor to refill your 1lb tanks from you 20 lb . Not really legal in Canada but the Americans use them all the time .
