My thoughts as well... Bought the hook 7 on sale at BPS for the boat but haven't even taken it out of the box yet... I checked Lowrance web site and the don't make the ice pack to fit a 7"... May have to rig something up but probably just run my vex this season until I can figure out this unit...
Is anyone else using this unit? Thoughts?

I run the Lowrance Elite 4 Ice Machine and it gets the Job done, only issue is the beam @ 20 degrees, covers way to much water to get that accurate bite.

Those 8 degree flashers are the way to go.

flashers have their purpose,i have both, but ultimately choose the sonar...

the hook 4 has downscan(i think) and chirp if i remember correctly, nice unit, but the downscan only works when you are moving so useless for ice fishing..but it has a flasher mode

I had a buddy just buy one and he came over to my place and we programmed it entirely in about 20 minutes.

sonar and gps.

The directions had 1 glitch on setting up the configuration box to show.

depth, speed and temp. as an example.

I advised him to refit the stand the unit was on so you could mount it for good and not take it off.

Easy and he's liking it
