So I want to try and ice fish Lake Dalrymple this year as I have been curious to see if it is good during the hardwater season Lots of perch, sunfish, and the odd crappie/pike etc. during the summer.

Have you fished it during the winter?

if so..

Where is a safe place to get on the ice?

(Is the river by the boat launch safe during the hard-water season)

and any tips would be appreciated!

Boat launch is safe access once there is safe ice on the lake. Fishing though in the winter is a hit and miss. In the summer I do really well for pike on that lake but last winter out of the outings I only you had 4 fish to show for it. I use artificial in the summer and live sucker minnows in winter

Fished it once only. Fished off the point did alright on dinky perch and caught 4 pike over the two day stay.

Thanks guys for replying to this thread!

I was afraid I was the only one interested in Rymple. Also thanks for the info. on the safety of the boat launch I would have gone regardless totally stressed out as I walked through. With my spud bar and floater suit on of course!! Safety first!

Really, most people don't have much luck? Thats surprising panfish are plentiful there during the summer and the odd pike each outing. Oh well its the closet lake that I know of with access to viable pike. Tried Canal but that lake is to shallow and weedy plus even in the summer pike fishing is tough there.

I am going to look at some depth charts I am determined to get onto the pike. Its only an hour from Whitby and my closest option. That I know of... besides mitchell and canal lake.

If it is close to Whitby you are looking for Frenchman's Bay has some decent pike fishing and only 15 minutes from Whitby. After these last few days you should be able to get on there this weekend, sounds like you have all the safety gear and know how to stay safe.

Check Great Lakes section and you'll see that the bay is fishable by casting from shore
