Looking to get into some type of floatation suit. I was hoping to get into a full one piece mustang integrity suit. Yes they are pricey but will last a lifetime. I am now looking into floatation bibs as an alternative, but feel like this will just buy me time before getting into a onesie Was hoping for some feedback on your experience. Thanks
PS. Day one yesterday produced my first fish of 2017. Just a little pike but I'm on the board

I use the Mustang bib and jacket... the reason I like the two piece is because in the early spring and late fall, I'll still use the floater jacket in the boat up on Georgian Bay... keeps you very warm, and gives you the option of wearing the jacket or the bib... or both! Either way though, it's well worth the investment for the warmth and piece of mind!

If you are sitting out on the open ice all day then likely the one piece will keep the wind out a little better but in a hut on a warm(er) day sometimes it gets a little hot and pulling down the top of a one piece is a nuisance while just taking the jacket off of a two piece would be an advantage. Depends how you intend to fish.

I think when it counts the most the mustang integrity hx will perform best ... This is the suit I have, however like stated above the 1 piece is a pain in th a$$ when fishing in a heated hut and using the can... My buddy has the Helly Hanson which is cheaper and in my opinion a "nicer" suit as it has a few features mine don't such as built in suspenders and whistle as well as nice pockets... I only wear mine at early and late ice and cold days on the boat... You can always buy both a 2 piece and a 1 piece if you have lots of money or buy both used as people let them go cheap in the off season SS 77

You could consider checking out the boat show in Toronto... it's in a few weeks and generally you can get a show special... I've purchased floater jackets there before... can't remember the deal I got, but it was certainly worth the trip...

All comments above are valid and be sure to look closely at the pockets before blowing your cash. On some of the nicer suits, the pockets are lined with fleece which is a very nice feature. Also, a good insulated hood will help prevent the wind from robbing your body of heat through your head.

I have the Mustang one piece and I kinda wish I had purchased the jacket and bibs. I just find the one piece to be too cumbersome. Once I'm all set up in my portable shelter and heater going I usually slip the top part off. Also not too comfortable in a one piece sitting on a chair bent over fishing in a hole. If I had the two piece I would just take jacket off. One other thing I wish the pockets were better and also had an inside pocket to keep cellphone and wallet in.

I had a Mustang one piece floater suite it's warm but to constricting especially in a hut but this year I bought a Stricker Ice suite two piece alot more comfortable than a one piece. Just as expensive as a Mustang or Salius. Also the Striker Ice suite floats as well jacket and bib. Buy it comes down to what you can afford and comfort. Yes they are expensive for your life is worth I think. Good luck and be safe out there and tight lines.

I like to fish outside on the ice and last year I bought the mustang integrity hx 195 suit one piece. It was over $500 bucks, but warm and worth every penny. It also gives you a more enjoyable fishing experience with a little more piece of mind knowing that you have an advantage by wearing one than not. It's coast guard approved, and in my opinion worth the money to spend. We spend money on gear, fishing or hunting trips, rods, reels, so think of it as a necessity as part of your hobby.
