With my post on the pictures of OOS fish and the other on the use of herring as bait we have had lots of comments and action.

There is not enough good ice to fish, so what's wrong with some good discussion and debate. We all learn.

I think when someone face is in a picture . It's not right to assume they are doing something wrong . It's labelling them to anyone that might recognize them . When in all likely hood they have done nothing wrong or they would be hiding evidence not showing it to attract attention .

My wife said she will be glad when I can get ice fishing . Says I'm a cranky.old man waiting to get out on hard water . Google Petrie island in Ottawa . Now that's what we should be doing . Use your ice hut on the ice much the same as you would your trailer in a park in the summer. A big social

Unless the fish flows in like silver bass run in the Detroit river.... fishing on Simcoe like that will drive me nuts. Only big social ill accept when comes to fishing is on here. On the lake stay away please!

As for the other comments on here about SD.... I have been reading his post from day one and I know he did not intend to single out anyone or target to throw someone under the bus. A point was brought up that has always been a touchy subject... I even jumped all over it. But get use to it as it won't be the last. I fished with many people on this forum. We will sit 2 feet from one another and not agree on a simple topic. Makes great talk on the ice and helps the blood to boil on those cold days. But always mutral respect for each other because at the end of the day the reason we talk about these stuff is that our common interest is what got us here and out there on the lake.

I know SDC(Ralph) well enough to know that his intentions were good in making that post. I guess it points to the limitations of the written word in general and social media in particular how that thread went so severely off-track. It looks like this one is likewise headed in the same direction.

( I find it laughable in a sad sort of way that people even questioned why I brought the subject of spuds up for discussion. I guess we're all supposed to have the same opinion!!??)

Totally agree with your comment on SD and his having good intentions; always. But the horse has been beaten after death. Personally though, I'm fine with some arguing. Keep it clean and no personal attacks (attack the comment or the subject, not the person) and I'm all in! We are here to discuss.

Year after year... Forum after forum... The same arguments... Uninformed people being blasted... Know the regs before you post pics... If we had quality ice people wouldn't being reading as much they would be fishing...

SDC/Ralph has been un upstanding member from the beginning. I've had the pleasure to meet him a couple of times. He's as straight up as they come.

I found his post about pictures of OOS fish a fine refresher and a great learning tool for any newcomers to the sport as well as new members.

It does sadden me that some members showed displeasure with the post. The topic title was quite clear to me. If I didn't want to read something that has already been discussed a while back, I simply wouldn't read it. Let alone make a comment that it's old news and showing my displeasure.

It also saddens me that some people have "selective" reading skills. Cessna172 simply posted a picture of a great catch. Not his catch and not sure where it was caught. Cessna172 was only passing the time with an encouraging discussion till the ice is safe.

Please take the time to read each thread before making a knee jerk reaction.

We will all be better of as friends rather than adversaries.
