Fin Bore vs Swede bore, What's the diff?

Some people seem to swear by the Fin bore. Some swear at the Swede bore. The Fins seem to be quite a bit more expensive. Worth the money?

I've had the Finn Bore lll for years now and love it. Its an offset handle, making it super easy the get through the ice, even with an 8" blade. Whereas, the Swede Bore needs much more pressure to cut through the ice.

Basically, just slightly different designs. Both cut great with new blades. But IMO worth the money for the Finn Bore...there may be some on kijiji...

Also, ive iced lots of high teen Lake trout through that 8" hole.

The Fin bore has an offset handle. I suppose this means that your turning and working both handles and using both arms.

I have the swede bore, where the top handle is in-line with the auger. Basically you have to do all the work with one arm, and the other just applies pressure on top. I have an 8inch Swede bore, I prefer it over others, but maybe its just because i'm used to it.

The off set handle and curved cutting blades make a world of difference compared to some of the other augers.

All very true for most people. However, some people have difficulty mastering the different technique required by the offset handle. If possible, try before you buy.

I paid $10 at a yard sale for my fin bore and it's on the third season still cutting...not saying it's better or worse than a swede bore but for $10 I am very happy! Would probably give a $10 swede bore that works the same great review.

I bought a fin bore iii last year and I thought it cut through the ice very well. You don't have to push down, just let the blades do the work. This year I bought a clam plate and am very happy with its performance.
