Decided to try Port Bolster area yesterday after Taj posted about the ice being good. We walked out from the soccer fields and tried our first holes at 15fow only to find impenetrable slush. Found clear water in 19fow near a pressure crack, but no marks or action so we headed out deeper. Around 20-21fow there is a large area of broken ice that we decided not to cross. We had some action but it was generally a slow day, we ended up bringing 5 good jumbos home between two of us.

A dozen or so huts in the area throughout the day. Some guys ventured way out past the smashed up ice. Gonna be a rough go through there until the machines beat a road down.

At 1km/21fow we had 4-5" of good black ice and a couple inches of white on top. A bit of booming and one good shift as things froze up. Our first holes from the morning had over 1/2" ice in them when we came back past them midday. Lots of ice being made out there

Good luck

Think I may have talked to you guys at Tajs just before 7am. We opted for orillia and did quite well. PB is my go to since it's close and convenient. Hoping the bite picks up soon
