I guess this is why clam came out with the drill adapter kit... a couple of decent batteries and a good 18v drill and youre good to go. also much lighter than a gas setup.

Ultramar premium has no ethanol and is all I use in my outboard, lawn mowers, augers and sled. Still need to use a premium fuel stabilizer. I use Startron and have had no issues. At the end of the each season though I do try to run them dry to leave the carb and fuel lines empty.

But how much of the last guy's ethanol filled regular gas is left in the lines between the in ground tanks and the nozzle before the premium gets there? Sometimes the tanks are quite a way from the pumps and nobody has separate pumps for premium anymore so if you are filling your mix jerry can for an ice auger or string trimmer it's generally only 5 or 10L. If 2L(for example) of regular is pumped through the lines before the premium starts flowing you aren't very ethanol free are you? I always throw 5 bucks in my vehicle first before I fill my jerry can.

The trick is to put the first couple of dollars into your car or another gas can first. We have to do it all summer when buying our race fuel.

I was getting gas one day and there was a tech working on another pump. I strolled over and asked him this question. He told me 6 litres would clear the pump of the ethanol crap.

On another note, I served my apprenticeship at a gas station. It was common practice for the boss to order too much regular than our tanks could hold. When the tanker driver told him he had regular left over, he told him to dump it in the premium tank. The tanker driver always did cuz there was too much paper work if he brought it back. The reason the boss did this was money. He made more per litre on the premium and if he watered it down with regular, he had a higher profit margin. One day I asked a tanker driver what he thought about it and he said he didn't care and also told me that many gas station owners pulled this stunt. For this exact reason, I use Star Tron in anything I own that has a vented fuel system. Star Tron is the only stabilizer that I know of that will protect against the evils of ethanol. I used it all season with a pinch of methyl hydrate.

Also, when I store something, I never run the carburetor empty. Seals and diaphrams can dry out and crack causing big problems as well.
