Etiquette, Some of us are new and want to know

All of this, is the reason I pretty much never go near Simcoe any more.
I used to fish it a fair bit about 15-20 years ago but no thanks. I'll stay up here where I can have a whole lake to myself, let you guys fight over a perch!

Please check the fishing regs. I believe you will find it's clear what to do with leftover bait.

Several great points have been mentioned already, but the one that has been missed. Be courteous to the access points and the neighbours surrounding them. We seem to lose access more and more every year. Is it garbage left behind, illegal parking, early morning noise?

Dump the left over minnows under your buddies car or truck seat... Lol...

Not saying he can't be on the lake. We talking etiquette here. Driving by me once or twice 100 yards away I don't mind. But zipping around doing circles around my hut every 5 mins is annoying.

500 feet away it is wide open. Why not take it out a bit further?

Not saying this is the case with everyone, but 2 years ago I went ice fishing with a buddy, never had the opportunity to drive a sled, when he asked if I wanted to go do some circles I jumped at the chance. I was that guy making circles. I wasn't going fast, don't think I broke 30 km/h, but the fact is I didn't want to stray far due to knowing nothing about the machine. Might not be the case with everyone, but I'm sure a few are in the same spot. Would I go roaring at like 100 km/h around your hut for hours on end? No, but the 30 minutes I took off fishing to go toot around with it was my choice. To me, there was nothing unethical in what I was doing. But, everyone's got the right to there own opinion. Tight lines guys.

Good point dude, every year I see guys revving machines, cussing and talking as loud as they can at 6-6:30am right beside people's houses. How long before the no parking signs go up!!

When you park in a neighbourhood, shut up and just get your crap out and go. Respect thy neighbour. When you get back to your car, don't paint the snow in front of someone's home yellow. Again, no need to have loud conversations. Reserve it for the ride home.

I would like to add: when people coming or leaving the lake on machines, some of them taking shortcuts and passing people fishing way too close. Would they like if it was done to themselves?
Always take a good loop around permanent or portable hut or anglers fishing in the open. Just a good etiquette))

1. Garbage left on the ice. If you bring it out, bring it back with you! How hard is that?
2. Losing a fish after it gets wrapped up in the transducer.
3. Snowmobiles are the jet skis of ice fishing. Are they trying to run over your tip-up?
4. Sunflower seeds in my hole.
5. When people set up right on top of you, even though there’s a whole lake.
6. People complaining about you being set up too close.
7. Snake northerns, ‘nuff said.
8. People who keep every fish they catch regardless of size.
9. Trying to re-tie with frozen fingers.
10. The guy that’s first to call you for a hot spot, but as soon as he finds fish it’s a secret.
11. People leaving cigarette butts on the ice.
12.  Seeing small little lakes posted all over Facebook.
13. When your tip-up gets frozen in the hole.
14.  People that purposely waste fish — if you don’t want it,  put it back!
15. Running out of propane.
16. Wind!
17. Driving too fast on the ice — slow down!
18. How most anglers need the internet to find hot spots. Seems long gone are the days of finding your own fish.
19. When people start fishing before everything is set up and don’t offer to help.
20. Marking fish, but can’t get ‘em to bite.
21. People drilling holes during prime time.
22. People who don’t read the rules and regs, and instead ask others online. Even worse are the ones who give answers having never read ‘em either.
23. Buddies that are retired and say they can’t go fishing because they have too much to do.
24. People posting pics of fish and telling everyone exactly where they were caught.
25. When there’s an ice road plowed right over your waypoint.
26. Cleaning frozen fish.
27. When someone thinks you catch the same exact fish over and over: “Must be the same one you caught before,” or, “that’s the one I caught.”
28. Running out of beer.
29. Women hanging all over me once they find out I’m an ice fisherman….
30. Not getting to go!

Don't get to upset about 29, they're just out to get your way points!
