Anyone on Johnsons today? How's the ice? Is it worth it to go from Orillia?

Wide open with white cap waves crashing around line 4.
With these winds and the direction we could lose all the ice today. Might be a floating ice berg towards the main lake with people tagging along until the waves destroy the 2-3" of questionable ice.
I am sure there are people out there and will be tomorrow but that is thier call.
Ill be waiting until Monday to re-assess.

The long range looks terrible. Next Sat Jan 21 calls for +12 other forecasts saying +9 in Barrie.
I think all the lake ice will be gone by Thurs or Fri with day tome highs of 4 and 5*c with wind.
Windfinder Forecast (Click This Link)

I would avoid it but your call.

Lots of safe ice in Muskoka for Lakers.

I would have to side with Evanxrs on the sketchy ice. Checked it early afternoon with the spud drawing water/going through on one or two hits. Measured 2.5" to 3.5 or 4". Mostly white ice as well. A personal call here.

Friend of mine went out spudding today and said he was getting about 1" of black ice maybe and 1" of white on top of that.

Doesn't look good.
