During the day very clear to 5-6 ft but you can distinguish fish further than that. At night not as far, how every if you jig your minnow you will still see the flash and the fish will appear as dark shadows.
We put the camera down the hole as close to the center as possible and used the pan unit to move it from hole to hole, we marked the direction of the camera on the pan unit, making it easier to figure out where to point the unit. In one case we could see two holes. We take up our own satellite receiver and TV. This year we only watched a hockey game and one movie. The rest of the time we had the camera hooked up to the 23" TV as well as the 7" monitor. It was more fun than watching the satellite.

If you get the chance take that unit with you and fish temagami.........wowee, you cn see fish coming from 50 feet away..crystal clear.

That is a lot of fun when whitefish mill around and then a laker moves in and smashes a bait!

Need a 100 foot cable there though
