I have a group headed to Cooks bay from Michigan an weather does not look good for the last 4 days in January. Your best bet is to trust your local operator. There hae been good ice for a while there and the nights are still cold. Kemp bay will be a write off and any other deep water.

I live in Belle ewart. First timeI saw anyone out there was yesterday. Last week I fell through the ice at my local beach dock and that was water no more than 18 inches deep. Supposed to be quite warm next few days. If I get the chance in will check ice for you tomorrow and let you known how thick it is.

ice is dicy at best this year and with the rain and warm temps may be better to wait or hit another side of the lake that has more ice right now and won't deteriorate as fast as other side. on a side note are you a bee keeper?, I'm a local bee keeper as well, fun hobby and a tasty reward as well.

ya we lost 2 already at my home yard, my other yard on the farm seems to be doing okay so far this winter. the fluctuations in weather this winter are probably throwing them for a bit of a loop. getting some fresh new nucs in the spring with chilean queens hopefully they produce well.
