Got out this morning for two hours before work. I landed 4 kept 2 lost 2 and missed 3. Not to bad for two hours. Got out at 7 until 9. Lot was full. I was using a medium action fenwick with 6lb Floro and a bps branded vibrato half the price and if not better. Ice was 5 inches clear it wasn't very tight 2 hits with the spud. Usually with 5 inches it's more like 4 5 hits. Shore was all heaving from ice expanding. Bring rubber boots because the shore is not hard at all. Probably about 300 huts out there. After landing the fish I had 20 huts surround me. Great start to the season. Stay safe tight lines.

we were out off Johnson's this morning and yes it was a bit of a zoo. There were some ppl that walk a long long way out there. We iced 2 and lost 4. Was just nice to be out. The guy behind us iced a 2lb and 6.5lb and the guys to my left had at least 4 between the 4 of them. we were in 80FOW. Didn't seem to matter as I saw a few guys that were in 50FOW or so and they had a few iced also. Beauty day to get out. OTH

Hey all,
Ventured out this morning around 8am, Late start from last nights festivities, Had to get my fix in, just in case the warmer weather destroyed the ice this coming week. We made our way out from Minet's Point, we walked north west about 1km to a nice spot in 70 FOW. There was lots of people fishing, we wanted to get away from the crowd. Few hours passed with 5 - 10 fish marked on the fish finder. We decided to call it quits until my brother got the bright idea to punch a hole at 30 FOW. Dropped the line in and BAM fish on. I was using my perch rod (Big Mistake) just messing around drag wasn't set nothing..... so I keep bringing up this fish in which I thought was a big perch..... no so much large white fish. I could see him swimming and fighting just under the ice, get his head through the hole and Ding my line snapped. Looked like a very healthy hungry white fish maybe in the 4 - 6lb range. No the less I will have nightmares tonight but great day, lots of fun and Amazing weather. Great to hear some fish were caught.
