I went out looking for lakers as well. Started off the morning doing some work by pushing out a truck that got stuck. Tried walking far enough to avoid the crown but that did not work. Spud my way out in the dark almost every other step. A couple of guys on shore told me before I headed on the ice that they checked the ice and was too sketchy. They drilled a hole and ice was cracking all around them.

The ice made noise all day and again skipped a few heart beats. 5 inches of ice total and mainly black ice. I had to measure as it looked very thin and could of sworn it was about 3 inches. Had the heater on low when it was on but was off most the time. Couldn't risk melting anything off the top. Few hair line cracks passed through the holes and under my chair.

No laker but got this

Hey guys ... went out today for the first time this season, Minets point , walked about a 1km and started fishing at 63Fow,after 10 minutes I landend a small Whitie, quick pic and release him, my buddy had his camera down and we could see a few just swimming by our lures, lots of people out there, had a nice hit but couldn't set the hook in time after while we hear lots of noise in the ice and also saw cracks right under my feet, my heart came to my mouth lol , we decided to leave, as we get to shore we looked back and see some guys leaving and majority staying lol , i saw when Smithers lost his fish by the hole,it was unfortunate, my buddy asked them what kinda fish it was ,after while we decided to go back out again but staying closer to shore, we fished 45fow and no luck, marked a few but couldn't get them to bite, I was using a tip up and also badboys tipped with a tube
