Was it me or did anyone else get skunked today?

Despite the fact that you couldn't ask for a better day to go fishing my day wasn't all that great. Took the family out today to Gilford and met a buddy there in the morning to do some perch fishing. Just two días ago I had gone to the same spot in the afternoon and went home with over a dozen 10 to 12 inchers. I think we must have been on the ice at around 9:30 and left pretty close to 5pm. We must have punched around 30 holes with absolutely no fish to be found. By noon the wife and kids headed home for lunch so we figured there was no way we were going home skunked. We moved around and tried everything from 10 to 20 feet of water but couldn't find fish. Everyone we came across seemed to be experiencing the same luck. We finally marked some fish in 20' and managed to pull out a half a dozen or so but no keepers. We left the the lake empty handed even though we did catch something I have to admit defeat. Was I the only one skunked today?

We caught a couple small ones at gilford that was it

The lake was pounded hard all weekend, hundreds of snowmobiles, quads and cars and trucks on the lake. All the noise was bound to cause spooky fish. You will have better luck next time.

Too much commotion on the ice this weekend with everyone scratching the itch, and does spook the fish.

i was fishing in belle ewart and managed 24 ranging between 9-12". Step sister was using minnows I was using slab grabbers.

They were all deeper at 40ft , shhhhhhhhh........

I had a similar experience on K Bay. My buddy was hauling whities and lakers out every few minutes. as soon as his bait hit bottom they were gobbling it up. My tip up was hit a couple times but the fish shook the hooks.

Oh well.

we were out at Gilfords yesterday arrived around 12:30, we started at 15 feet and were not marking anything, kept going further probably drilled 15 holes before we finally found some decent fish at 25-28ft, very skittish and mostly watching but i ended up with about a Dozen 10-12" with 25 smaller ones.

That could have been bait for these I caught yesterday in KBay area

What were you guys using for bait. Buddy and I tried everything, we had two pass by and no action 84 fow

I landed 12 and loss 3 and was on the ice by 7am and off by 11:30, did you try Meeps or bad boy in gobbie colour - tipped with either a skirt or minnow? Lightly jigging so slightly on the bottom so it looks like they are feeding, then rip it up 6 inches and repeat, feel pressure means fish on Spreader on tip up with minnows are two that were working but used numerous others too that worked. That was then - who knows what my next time will be like, I was at 50-60 fow

Was at lefroy, from 12-3, Everyone was setup in 10-20 FOW. Everyone was also complaining about no fish, or tinys if anything. I fished 5-30 no luck, crossed a sketchy pressure crack in which no one wanted to cross, I had a spud and all gear, which no one else seemed to have. The crack was decently solid, went to 40 feet and started hitting them. Only had 45 mins left at that time before I headed home to Guelph for work, managed 8, 5 keepers plus a dink I had to keep due to dropping it and it seemed screwy when I placed in water. Let a few guys on the way back who looked to be arriving know where the bite was, cautioning them about the crack and only to go with a spud. I drilled probably 30+ holes looking for the perch, sight fished from 5-30 FOW, didn't see nothing would jig and wait 5 mins before moving. All 8 where caught on a jig with a minnow, including my 1 10 inch jumbo. All in all a good day on the water, headed home, donated my fish to an elderly lady who loves fresh perch, got to see her smile, and had myself some fun. Cant wait till next Saturday when I can go back out

I kicked my brand new tipup, spreader down the hole in 90 fow Not a happy camper when I did that lol, fished whitefish before perch 7-11:30, something touched my line once that's all.
