So I was feeling a little let down that the Elite 3x I purchased back in late November did not have the flasher mode that was shown on the box. I emailed Lowrance and they said they will send me the Hook 4 to replace my unit. I will hold my excitement for when it arrives and I try it out, but I'm pretty sure it's a decent upgrade. Just hope it gets here in time for the ice season to really kick off.

I was actually very surprised that I didn't get a "sorry about your luck" reply with the way most customer service is now a days.

I hadn't an elite 4 last year, and loved it. Sold it to a friend this past summer who was moving up north, and have missed it ever since. Was going to pull the trigger on a helix 5 on Boxing Day but my local crappy tire had non left on clearance. They did have the elite 3's, but after googling as many reviews as I could a lot of guys complained of their being no flasher mode, and also problems with varying depths. I ended up grabbing my first colour hummingbird, so we will see if I like it this year. I think you'll like the lowrance; they are pretty solid units.

You will love the bird it's awesome. And the built in flasher on a sonar is absolute garbage compared to a good vexilarge or a unit that's strictly a flasher. Once you get it all set up I think you will enjoy the sonar much more than the flasher setting. I got a helix5 and a 597 and never use the flasher mode.

AWesome, that's good to hear! I never was one to like the flasher modes, they have me a headache. I know some guys love them, and swear by them. The only thing I'm missing at this point is safe is, lol. I just keep buying tackle, and supplies I'll most likely never use more than once this year. Can't beat the old tried, tested/true tackle combos lol.

Darn, should have kept mine. And The 3x were a steal on black Friday too!
I purchased 3x in late November as the four season package and it was half price then. Oddly enough, CT wasn't really advertising them and they only had one in stock and none on display.

How did returning your old unit work out ...they are doing the same for me ...gave me a contact in Edmonton.
Oh I wish. They emailed me a return slip but it's for San Diego California. Once they receive it they will ship mine out. He said it usually takes aound 10 days.

Mine came yesterday...they replaced the unit head and gave me adapters to use the summer ducer that also came in the original kit. Very happy with this upgrade...... the 3 was way to slow compared to my older garmin 150 and wasn't really an upgrade other than colour and a nicer winter kit. Just need this warm spell to frig off so I can get back out there. Thanks Tay for bringing this up ...I had the same issue but never really thought to see if they would do anything about it untill this post.
