Hi my friends,I see everyone has hit the ice now here in the New year. Its nice to see everyone starting to post reports with lovely pics along the way! That's what it's all about!! Gotta luv it after last year's disastrous ice fishing season for some.
Now that Simcoe has started to produce it's starting to reduce the pressure here further north on the smaller lakes,Thanks guys!!!
Well now that things are getting back to normal up here, parking spots guaranteed and less racket on the little lakes, the fish are starting to cooperate a bit more.
I had a friend of mine come down from Manitoulin Island for a visit, the friend I usually refer to as the Manitoulin jinx as some of you may know.Well I'll be damned but I think he may have ridden himself of that name.
I haven't ice fished with my buddy for a couple of seasons now so it was nice just to get out and rekindle some old times, the bite had been very slow for everybody the last couple weeks on Lake X so we decided that we would venture away from the pack and try some new grounds.
Omg!! Did it pay off to walk the extra as we could not keep the critters off the whole day long! The perch would hit every time our presentations were dropped down along with four decent Pike and a nice size dinner Walleye! The next day my friend was gone and I ventured out to the same area once again.I probably landed 60-80 perch, many of the keeping size,I prefer not, several Pike hits including the notorious Speckled Pike of Lake X and my trophy so far this winter a 14" 1.70 lb.Lunker Crappie!! Oh yeah! Thanks Manitoulin jinx for leading the way! Whoops! Have a Crappie Day!
