Alternatives to expensive flashers. Both around $200. Was wondering if anyone has used either of these items.

I use the deeper. It works just as well as my fish finder in the boat and absolutely fabulous when shore fishing casting it out and retrieving it. Haven't got on the ice with it yet but hopefully next week. Life keeps getting in the way lol. Battery life is about 4hrs and use it with my note 3. I take along my portable power and have no issues with running out of battery power all day. Just recharge and keep going. Take a little tripod with you to mount your phone on would be a recommendation.

Stop it! Ive been trying to stop myself from purchasing one of these units, as I don't have a finder of flasher, your only making it harder!

Yes, i use the FishHunter 3D it works great and I reviewed it here:

At deeper waters around the 80 + feet range it loses sensitivity in picking up bottom detail like your jig etc, but that is kind of to be expected from a lower powered wireless unit like this with a self contained battery.

Under 60 feet it picks up my jig no problem.

I tried the 3D would not work consistently sold it because it was too much hassle to get and keep working. Got a helix 5 for around the same price, much better.

Casting it seems nice but, its HEAVY! and I could never get over the anxiety of tossing $200 device into open water with no plan to get it back if something happened. (used 80 lbs braid but casting accuracy is out the window with a 6.5oz device!)

I have the fish hunter and I would throw it like a hard ball in open water and just toss it spots when shoreline fishing.....I kept it tethered to my rod. It worked ok but the novelty wore off......Used it last week through the ice for about an hour and I was picking up my small jig just fine but I never had the chance to see a fish on the screen because there was none....Ended up going back to my graph.
Cool unit but my advise would be that if you were serious enough about ice fishing but are on a budget then save up a little more and by a cheaper starter unit without all the bells and whistles and you never know, you might love it and use it the rest of your life.
