This topic has been beaten down I'm sure, but seeing if there's anyone running an ice taxi service out of VB. Looking to be on the ice Feb 10. Thx for any info.

Flag down the guy in the red suzuki. He made a hundred trips back and forth to the island yesterday and I bet he'd welcome a few bucks for gas, or a muffler.

good idea - I'm sure I will hear him coming! but looks like the old heel-toe express eh. OH well. In my area Mitchells Bay used to have a tractor with a flat bed trailer that would haul people back and forth to a drop off spot for 10 bucks...best 10 ever spent.

I used to fish Mitchell's and St.Lukes bay with my dad over 50 years ago and we would get an ice taxi to go out and it consisted of a Model A ford with 4 45 gallon drums strapped to the sides for flotation in case it broke through. The good old days. Caught a lot of fish back then.

Ya l seen this vehicle fly back and forth on the ice on the weekend, just don't stand in front of him when he's flying on the ice, l don't think he's brakes are the greatest because he was using them when flying by you on the ice. Lol

Talk to the guys at daves fish huts, they've given me a lift a few times in the past as long as they've got their customers looked after.

An ice taxi would be awesome! I know if I was younger & lived near the lake I'd be offering that type of service. I feel a guy could make some good money. Place an ad here, I'm sure it would pay off.

Not as easy as it sounds.
Once you start charging for services things change.
Insurance for such a venture would be quite costly.
Of course in most cases you would also need properly sized helmets for all passengers.
Not as easy or profitable of venture as you think.

Thanks for the replies on Dave's. Would just rather not drag a machine on a 4 hr trek to Simcoe if not needed. The ice here @ Mbay and St. Luke's has been dicey the last few years- gotta drive north to get away from these mild winters in the banana belt.
