Got on the ice pretty late yesterday (830) and fished a variety of depths all from 38-97'. It was a beautiful warm day so the hut was only set up when I marked enough fish to set up camp and hide my catch. I read an earlier post of a fisherman who would ice a fish and next thing he's surrounded.

I actually was in plain sight of a bearded dude pullin up 2 nice sized whities and some herring. But I minded my distance and walked the other way where I was rewarded with my first ever Lake Simcoe Whitefish! First drop of my lure and with a couple of pops, I nailed em! Heart was racing as I iced hooked into it and fought it to the surface. Man it was a porky fish. Didn't burp at me tho

Fished for another 15-20 and got another whitie but it was pretty small so I let it go.

That's when I set up camp and got another fair sized one and also let it go. Finished up with one more nice eater sized whitie and tried for lakers

Four years of chasing whities and lakers and I turn up with 4 whities in one day!

awesome job! I am hoping this year is the year for me. Tried the last two with no success on either species as well. Ice conditions last year and this haven't helped the matters all that much....

The ice I was on was a good 4-6" of clear in most parts. The warm weather yesterday accompanied with pressure cracks scared the p### outa me on multiple occasions lol I'd be walking and spudding along and BOOM it would crack right under me.

The warm weather was definitely doing a number on the ice yesterday. Lots of eerie sounds. Sad to see all this rain..

I'm no expert but it's safe to say that it is definitely a numbers game. It is totally frustrating but the time and money spent is quickly forgiven and forgotten after you ice one.

Good luck!
