Hey all 1st post.
Went out last night. Was ok when we 1st went out. Then it got nasty.
Bought a new Fabrill ice hub. Had a few issues with the wind blowing it around. Used 2 anchors, but it still moved I guess I will figure it out.
Never fished for crappie through the ice before. We were in 11' of water. Did not mark anything on top.
Fished the bottom. Got 3 perch. 1 about 11".
Got 1 walleye about 14" back it went.
Not sure of where to fish when that deep. Tried 5' but nothing.
Talked to a fellow out there said was his 1st time out also.
He said he got 5 crappie. 1 was a decent size.
Winds really picked up and the snow was flying.
We did talk to the bait shop guy and he said they really bite between 5 and 530. Ha ha we got nada.
12" of ice where we were.
I think there were several huts out but with the snow I really could not tell.

Well going to try it again tonight.
Hope for better luck.

Hey Poleman, that was me out there in the Frabill flipover and the brute force ATV you were talking to.

My niece stood me up so I went about 3 30 ish by myself.

Yeah 6 crappie ( only 1 dink after you guys left - 630 sharp right , I asked you for the time ) , 3 gills and 8 keeper perch.

My buddy is taking a pass on today's fishing so I think I will go out again and try deeper for crappie.

Other fella got 25 perch about 75 yards closer to shore than me. Heck , maybe I will start shallow and go deeper .

MIght see you out there today. Parking may be an issue today though.

Good luck ,Dale.

7-9 FOW around weeds. Find a nice weed flat close to deeper water and fish it from 5 pm thru dark. You will find the crappie. They are there in thick schools this year.

Started too deep and to lazy to move shallower yesterday. 10 more perch and couple gills. The one crappie I had to the hole and lost looked about 10 inches. So much snowmobile traffic, probably won't be going on a weekend again.

Hey Dale

We started out and saw your truck and trailer. Got to the bait shop too late. No minnows sos we did not come out.
There were lots of guys out there that we could see.
Bait shop closed at 4 we got there about 415.
Oh well. Ya we are going to try again during the week.

Did you hear see any of the others getting anything

Only two guys leaving around 2 when I got there said they were skunked, which I thought was pretty hard to do. Lots of guys in shallow with no fish on the ice so I went back to 12 - 13 feet again.

Bloody snowmobiles flying by though so thought that could have made the bite a bit tougher.
