Tragedy on scugog- be careful

Just heard about this, two teens thru the ice on snowmobile near view lake. 15 year old girl did not survive. Condolences to her friends and family.

I don't know where exactly this happened but man, the ice is thick out there wherever I've drilled holes.
Another example of the unpredictability of the hardwater. I would assume that it was near the mouth of the scugog river.
Again, condolences to the family of the young girl, and also the surviving teen boy, won't be an easy memory to live with. Please be safe on the ice everyone, unsafe ice IS out there

Yes, very sad. A young life lost and more lives deeply affected. It was in the view lake area. Ice is wide open there.

Horrible news and very sad to hear about this.

A real eye opener and a cautious reminder to everyone out on the ice with sleds, atvs, vehicles or even just walking,,,, play it safe out there,, as ice conditions can and do change quickly and without notice.

Very sad.
That spot has taken many lives over the years.
Almost always people that don't know the lake and at night.

This happened just off in front of my cuz house they interviewed one of his neighbor on CTV New. I was at the lake today and it's open at the top end and now other spots and crazy thing is I still see huts out there let's just play it safe folks

The huts still out in the View Lake / Birch Island area are on 12" of ice.

From there looking north, open water can be seen north of the sandbar.
