Hey Guys,
I recently moved to a place right on Pigeon River near the Emily Park area. I went out today and drilled holes all over the place but most holes the water was only 2-3 feet deep. I found one spot that was 5 and 1/2 feet deep but that was the deepest I could find. Do you guys think 5 feet is deep enough to fish for perch? Or know of any areas nearby that might be deeper? Any tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've never ice fished the river its great for bass fishing in the summer. There's a spot at the end of valley rd about a ten minute drive from Emily park rd some good perch fishing there.

Lots ofperch sunfish and crappie caught in 4-6 ft of water under the ice on scugog, don't see why the pigeon river would be any different. Give it a try and let us know how you do.

I've lived on this river for 13 years..... For Christ sakes, be careful. The channel will open with one or two days of warmer weather. Chemong is less than 5 minutes away and the lake is loaded with all the perch you can handle.

Thanks for all the tips! I checked the ice often as I know there are certainly some soft spots. A couple weeks ago there was open water under the bridge when it was warm for a week so I didn't risk going over that way.
I tried to find the main channel but I don't think it goes deeper than 5 feet in the area where I was checking, next time I'll go a bit further and try a different spot.
I ended up fishing for an hour to test it out in the 5 foot water hole. I got a few bites and caught one small perch which I threw back so there are definitely some fish in there. I'll probably give it one more go but if I can't find deeper water / catch some perch I'll drive over to Chemong as I saw there were all kinds of guys fishing over there and figure it must be pretty good.
