Daytona 500

Well with a little over a week and a half the big race 🏁 is on. Ever since Earnhardt Sr passed, I've been a fan. Although I do cheer for Jr, my interests have always been in Jimmie Johnson #48. He's been the man since his rookie year.
Any other NASCAR junkies here ? Who do you like / who do you hate ?

My NASCAR days are sort of over. I was never a fanatic but Jeff Gordon was my man for a very long time. Impressive record. Although supposedly retired a couple of years ago, I understand he just can't stay away and may be driving again at Daytona in the Rolex 24 next year. He's also said to be eyeing Le Mans. And Chevy, in case you don't already know, Jeff co owns Jimmie's car.

I was a big fan. Been loosing interest more and more every year. NA$CAR and the network$ are destroying the sport.

Last year was the final straw for me when NA$CAR "engineered" another 7 time champ.

I'll only watch the plate races this year cuz NA$CAR can't rig those.

FTR, I've been a big fan since Stock Cars were actually stock!

Yeah, I'm a NASCAR fan. Really any kind of racing except drag racing.

Rallied and ice raced in the 60's/70's and was a race control official at Mosport, Molson Indy and others for many years..

Was a member of the British Automobile Racing Club-Ontario Centre for 47 years.

Have visited many tracks in Canada, USA and England, mainly road courses.

Many good memories and quite a few trophies to show for my efforts.

I was a Mark Martin fan. I think they should start an veterans race at Daytona weekend every year. Something just for fun and to see the past greats again

Big race fan here....although I don't watch a lot of races, I do watch the Daytona 500....my preference is local short track racing....Way more competitive....all summer, almost every weekend I'm at Sunset.... I know quite a few drivers there, and love to help out in the pits....My Son's been the Tire guy since he was 3....

My wife was a big Mark Martin fan. ( dam good driver) Got to agree with Bayliner, the sport has declined the last bunch of years. I'm not a fan of the chase format to determine a champion

I was a Bill Elliot fan back in the day and when he retired I turned to Jeff Gordon. I have a great respect how both of them handle themselves both on and off the track. It's only fitting that with Gordon's retirement my new driver is Chase Elliot. This kid has the talent and the support to go a long way as he has already proven as a rookie making the chase. He also has shown great poise with the media. I think he will have a great season this year!

I think you are right. I just went through the schedule for tomorrow and nothing there.
