I think that you raise a very valid point about speaking up when we notice infractions. However, we don't have a legal right to look through people's coolers and live wells. I know that is not what you are suggesting, but imagine what happens when we are not looking. Speaking up is important, but I don't think it is at the forefront of conservation.
A rotating system is based on the idea of giving a fishery time to rest. Do you think that if Rice Lake opened a few weeks later with more CO presence, people would flock to the lake and be fishing over top of one another? Does rotating lakes create more anglers or does it deter anglers for when their favorite fishery is open? Does it benefit serious anglers who will set aside time to fish at their favorite places?
The rotation I suggested was not in a matter of weeks but years.
Lets say one lake every 5 years. 4 yes of recovery to one year fishing. Then Co's can stack up on the lakes that's turn it is.

Imagine the logistical nightmare of that...people can't read the regs right now, so I could only imagine. Not to mention all the people that have cottages on other lakes, do you think they would just sit back and accept that....heck no. Rotation is not the solution...

Exactly my point. Makes it easier to catch people as people fishing on a lake they're not allowed to is pretty cut-and-dry. Hey with all the extra tickets they would be writing they could even invest in a helicopter lol

A helicopter with infrared imaging that allows it to look into peoples live wells. If you are over the limit, they shine a light on your boat and its vigilante justice time! lol jk
It's a shame that there is only 9 CO's in that stretch. As an avid angler, I would support increasing my license cost if it meant more CO's and better management of water bodies. With an increase in the number of anglers, something has to give.

I would also be willing to pay more for more conservation officers. If people there fishing illegally and depleting all the fish what good is a fishing license if there's no fish to catch

As the title of this post says, know the regs....you shouldn't even be taking pics of out of season fish caught as it could land you in some hot water!

Another on of those kind of people..... If the fish is released right after and as obvious, he didn't wait for 10 mins to get a perfect angle, theres no wrong doing. As other COs have already said, they wouldn't hit you with a fine for it unless the fish was injured. Like going 110 on the 401. Its illegal, but allowed to happen. Guess when I see you going 101km/h I'm going to yell, know the rules, and berate you for it. Get a grip man. As for the poster, nice fish dude!

What this "kind of person" is saying, is accidents happen, but don't take the extra few seconds to get your camera out after having removed the hook from the mouth and snap a picture. Drop it back down the hole and share the story. I can tell ya ministry staff are on here almost daily so I am just cautious of what I post.

just sayin'. . . This topic has moved in the wrong direction. These comments should be move to the end of the numerous threads that discuss this.
Good point HardlyCore- perhaps these comments belong elsewhere- but then again, the photo just kind of popped up in a thread about more CO checks at night. Either way, it's good to know there are still some big eyes in Scugog- let's hope the population bounces back and in time will open again for walleye opportunities.

Not all CO's would let that go. Everyone of them have minds of their own and what one may let go the other may not... I believe IMO a quick pic and back in is fine in most cases but that's not how the law is written. Nice fish either way..

Hard to charge someone for posting a pic of an OOS fish. I call bs to those who said people got charged for posting a pic on the forums. The technology we have today like GoPro. I can upload still shots from the video I have and post it. Pics and videos of all your catch can be captured... may it be in season or OOS.... so please stop the b!tching when someone post an OOS fish. Could be a still shot from a GoPro and if you cannot prove it was not.... enjoy the post and let it be!
