Guys, I know fishing is an addiction....I've got it bad myself and there's no known cure. But with the recent rains and warm weather, please think about what you're doing and where you're going BEFORE venturing out on the ice. I've never looked forward to reading obituaries....I don't want to read one here because someone was scratching the itch. If a fish dinner is so important, go to the fish market.....PLEASE!!

It is scary to think you could go through. I checked the flow at the Otonabee near Squirrel Creek and it was very high. Anywhere, especially downstream from where the river hits the lake would have to be weaker.

Scary, they were lucky noticed by the homeowner, wish they all recovered, every year will have almost the same stories during early ice and late ice, but people still put their life in risk just for a few fish.

People need to smarten up and stop going out on the ice after it's been so warm these last few weeks in southern Ontario. They are going to have to make a law that you must wear a survival suit if you going to go out on the ice anywhere in Ontario. I know a lot of hut operators won't be happy, but sometimes the dumb asses ruin it for the rest of the smart people who know better.
