I try to run clear mono leader .as big of a piece as possible before it becomes difficult to work with . I run green line and braid and lead core for main line. Probably wouldn't atach luirs to my main lines . I used to tie luirs straight and found i had better luck when I switched to clear mono leader line. Their is olso the issue of water fleas .huge pain in the arse.

If we are talking Georgian Bay (without fleas of L. Ont.), why worry about line colour? Fluorocarbon would eliminate any concern of visibility. You can vary your choice in fluorocarbon lines depending on its use -- only as a leader or as the mainline as well.
