LOTS of open water on Scugog right now. Noticed it as I was driving up to get some gas on the island. Not sure if you can launch on it yet, but the ice is pretty much sludge at this point. I'd say that by the weekend, there will be little ice left in it. Might be a good time for spring crappie!

Water temperature, water level and weather are the biggest factors. If the water level is low and the water is still below 55f there probably holding on there deep winter pools 6-10ft, 55-65f is transition time so deep in the morning to shallow in the evening,65+f go shallow. Days where the water temp hovers in the mid 60's and it's either a full or new moon (tides will be high or coming in at least) is when you can have real good success. This is also a general rule of thumb not a lake specific guide, temps and tides are your signs for predicting fish movement and seasonal migration.
