Still enjoying getting some slab gills, the one below was close to 10". Expecting the next couple of weeks to still be pretty hot when it comes to getting them before switching over to bass.

Nice gill, good job..
Very pretty fish and lots of fun.
Thanks, it's fun to figure out how they relate to current and where they find their comfort zones in faster moving water. Definitely fun on the ultralight.
There were a couple of females that were still fat with roe, should have taken some pictures because their bellies reminded of bass that had just gorged on something.

What lake are you catching those monster blue gills in ?
I'm catching them in every lake in the Kawartha's. It's really a matter of weeding through some smaller fish until you locate the larger ones when fishing the main lake body of water. When it comes to fast water, you have to pick it apart methodically and the bigger fish will show you where they are. It's a lot like reading trout water.

Bait : the usual wax worm, on hair jig ?
Angler's Choice Crappie Fry in various colour patterns. They're made here in Canada and are extremely durable with one bait lasting for an entire day of fishing. I've included the hyperlink below so that if you feel to order them from the company you can do so directly. They also work well on crappie and perch, definitely something you'll want to use on your trip to Rice Lake in a couple of weeks.
I rig them on Bass Pro Shops 1/64th oz unpainted jigheads with red hooks under a slip float with a small split shot to help get the bait down, running 4lbs fluorocarbon on an UL setup.
