Coming to muskie bay in a few weeks, wondering how water temps/ levels are ... ? We fish for walleye and panfish. Never had much luck with perch and crappie though. Any tips on catching them ? Haven't been there in a couple years, hope nothing's changed at muskie bay resort.

Water temps are mid to high 60s, water level has normalized.
Given the long-term forecast, I'm betting mid-to high 70s by the time you arrive. Rice heats up fast.
Perch and crappie are everywhere, but it can be hard to get on them with consistency, especially good sized keepers. I usually get the better ones as by-catch fishing for walleyes on deep weed edges, so I'd suggest downsizing your jig presentation and maybe working in some slip bobbers to see if that delivers.
Re: Muskie Bay, not sure if you've been since Rennie sold the place a couple years ago. The polite answer to your question is that the new owners have thus far struggled to maintain his incredibly high standards for overall upkeep and customer service...

Thanks for the tips. We used to find them now and then straight out from Muskie Bay by the weed line in deep water. I'll try your tips. Are minnows worth trying ?
I noticed someone different answered the phone up there... Renny will be missed for sure. Hope the fish scaler is still in the fish cleaning station..... that fish house is awesome.

Personally, I've never used minnows on Rice - crawlers were the only live bait we ever used, and now I don't even use them.
Gulp and other 'bio-baits' I find much more effective, and much more durable.
This year I've started using Gulp crawlers on harnesses and they are DEADLY. Not only no drop off in action, but drastic improvements in catch rate so far...

my cottage is beside muskie bay and it has definitely gone down hill in the last couple years. if you have a boat bigger than 14 foot i suggest you use the boat launch at sandercocks or sunivale. The ramp at muskie bay hasn't been dredged out since renny left and is roughly 2' of water. watch out for the concrete wall and metal pipes below the water line on the left hand side as you leave the ramp area.

sunivale is on the big hill you go down to get into muskie bay so its 2 mins away but they may charge 10$. sandercocks is less than 10 mins away and pretty sure its public. how big is your boat?
