Just bought a new minn kota transom mount trolling motor (traxxis 55lb).
Any advice on battery , charger and battery box? and which stores has the best price?
I go out 6-8 times for bass / season.
Please post product link here or PM me

Thanks in advance,
Tight lines.

Tony

How many hours per outing do you plan on running it? This is a key factor in battery selection.

I spend roughly 8 hrs on water / trip.
Usually it's a day trip but sometimes I fish over the course of a weekend (8hrs/day).

I'm guessing 3hrs(at low rpm)/trip.

AGM AGM AGM, When I don't want to bring my bass boat to the cabin I just use a minn kota transom mount and an agm battery with plenty of power for 2 guys bass fishing a full day 8-10 hours on a 14 foot jon boat. I used to bring 2 regular deep cycle batteries with me. I tell everyone to get an agm type of battery, they usually don't listen as the cost is too high but you get what you pay for. Personally I'm so happy I made the switch a few years ago even though paying an extra $100 a battery isn't cheap I'll never go back.

That's just me and my experiences but if it sounds like you may use it for something similar that's my suggestion.

I see. I was just thinking about MotoMaster Dual Purpose Nautilus Group 27(80 amp hrs ;$139.99)Or 24 (65 amp hrs;$124.99) Starting & Deep Cycle Battery at Canadian tire. They both require a core charge of $20.

or... the MotoMaster Nautilus Group 31 Deep Cycle Battery (105 amp hrs ; $164.99 + $20 core charge).

Cranking amps would not matter to me cause I don't need it for anything else other than the trolling motor.

Here's my weapon of choice. I've had mine for at least 8 years now and it's still working great. I use it for all kinds of things.

I use the Costco deep cycles as well. Not the one pictured above but the big group 27 one that's about 129.99. It's a decent battery for the price. It's not amazing. Costco does have a good warranty on it tho. I think for my next trolling battery I will be getting an Agm as you can drain them lower without damaging the cells and they have better cycle life. My best advice is to get a good battery charger/maintainer so that it's always topped up when not in use.

You can ask that question on their website. When mine finally croaks, I'll just buy another unit. It comes with a wall charger and car charger.

I think the key to it's longevity as with all AGM batteries is, to use it often and charge it fully immediately after use. If mine isn't used in over a month, I'll turn the lights on for a couple of days and then recharge it right away. This keeps AGM's happy and healthy.

My battery choice is DEKA might cost a few bucks more than canadian tire, costco, wallmart but my opinion they are cheaper for a reason. Use any small charger 5 - 10amp, battery box well anything that works for you, something to stop it from bouncing around you can chk Deka Web site for dealers in your area or if in peterborough stop in to peterborough battery on George st and chat with the Johnson boys.
I use 75lb foot control with 2 series 31 deep cycle and get great life from deka batteries,
