For the third year a couple of my buddies and I packed up our gear and headed to a lake north of Barrie for our annual 3 day musky opener trip. Opening day (Saturday) was a beautiful sunny warm day that eventually had us down to shorts and t-shirts. This day we fished two different lakes that had Randaller and Mitchell both hooking up with acrobatic fish coming full body out of the water before spitting the hook and me with a new PB. Aside from one boated fish, two lost fish and a missed fish, we had a couple of follows from a large fish that wanted nothing to do with getting too close to the boat.

Day two, we woke up to heavy overcast skies and rain that persisted all day. We dragged ourselves to the boat with low expectations with change in weather to a cold front and rain. We were surprised with what we found once we started with a couple of missed fish, Randaller losing a large fish that I am sure he would like another shot at, a couple of follows and me upping my PB with a large fish. On this morning our boat rose a total of 6 fish including the ones hooked. After a break from the rain and a hot lunch we headed back out in the mid afternoon. We fished 5ish hours into the evening casting and trolling and didn't see another fish.

Day three, is a half day on this trip before loading up the boat and heading back to the real world where we wake up early for work instead of fishing. On this morning we fished two different lakes where we found some early morning success with me boating my first figure eight fish and losing another nice fish clearing the water and spitting the bait at the boat.

The success of this trip has me looking forward to my next trip out looking for muskies!
