I'm up there this Friday to Sunday around the Otonabee. I'll post if we catch or see any. I don't keep pike normally but what's the consensus, keep any within the regulations allowed? I love musky and most know what pike do the populations.

KEEP KAWARTHA PIKE! Right up to your limit! they have the capability to decimate the muskie population in future years... Keep your limit if you get it. if you don't want to eat it, donate it to food shelters (if you can) or grind it up for the garden

Correct. Pike spawn before muskie. Muskie fries are great pike food. The food chain goes on....

Not only are they in the lake they are interbreeding with Muskie, someone I know got 2 already that he is calling Tiger Muskie. They defiantely have the bars, I just wasn't sure if they were straight pike.

doubleblue44, I agree if you know how to clean them they are very tasty. Maybe we can shift anglers towards keeping the pike they catch in the Kawartha lakes as opposed to walleye. Maybe the Walters would bounce back a bit and the muskie population would stay strong if we all kept more pike. Would be great for the muskie and the Walley fishing, but I guess we will wait and see. Would hate to see the muskie take a hit as they are a true prize fish and always a welcome suprise on most anglers lines.
