Just curious I am heading up to Pigeon next week and was wondering about any updates on ski's, bass or eyes? We usually fish the north end of the lake and every other day head down in and around 3 sisters. I'll definitely keep everyone updated when we hit the lake on the 28th! Any updates would be appreciated! cheers, Hookum

I had a tough day on Saturday looking for ski's at the north end, although I was fishing during mid day hours (11:00-4:00pm) and during changing weather patterns/pressures. I was hoping that the changing weather would help me but unfortunately, I did not see a fish. The positives were that the spots that I fished (thanks Hank Jr.!) looked great and there are lots of green weeds. Good luck!

Thanks Jake. I have also spoken with Hank and he seems to fish the same type area that we do on the north end of the lake. Looking forward to hitting the lake next Wednesday and I'll keep everyone updated on any action we run into. cheers, hookum

Just arrived yesterday afternoon and the wind was blowin...caught a few Coors and Bud Light other then that Pigeon (north end) seems quite quite! Brutal rainstorm came in early morning and has just let up so hopefully this sparks a fish frenzy today and the rain stays away and goes back to Vancouver for 10 days!

Quick update. Out yesterday trying to mostly target smallies - boated about 6-8 a couple keepers but threw them all back. Last night out targeting pickeral got a couple and one 19" keeper trolling with a red and black jointed shad rap down by bottom islands. Out on the water early (for us) this morning about 6-6:30am headed down to just north of 3 sisters jigging the edge of the weed beds landed 3 pickeral and 2 keepers - seem to like the black and white or black and gold jig head with white grub. Weather is off and on been hiding and getting out of the wind north of big island. Hopefully the bite will pick up and sun will come out! As well water temp. 68 warm degrees - haha!

Well it's been quite tough fishin Pigeon (so far) this week! Weather has been "wonky" and winds have been quite brisk at times. Last night around 8pm we got our largest pickeral (so far) 21" about 2 1/2 - 3lbs - released for another day. Out this morning and landed a couple smallies and one under pickeral all trolling with either worm harnesses, rapalas and shad raps or drifting/casting with bucktails or crank baits. Biggest fight of the week so far (20min) was with an anchor along northwest side of big island trolling in 15-20ft clear bottom and images of "record muskie", "is the net big enough" came streaming through my head until I saw a rope which I'm sure was attached to an anchor - so if anyone lost an anchor at the northwest tip of big island pm me and I'll give you the coordinates to get it back! Anyone else catching anything at all on Pigeon this week?? GLTA cheers, Hookum

Finally got out a few hours this weekend for some bass. Bites were few and far between. Not much happening shallow for me but I did manage a couple on docks with a Texas rigged worm and 3/8 weight. Had a couple small bites on top water walking style baits but top water was slow. The key for me this weekend seemed to be flipping jigs and ribbon tailed worms in 8 to 10 foot weed beds on the main lake.would drift down them with the wind also some rock boulders mixed in. Most bass were just over one pound with the biggest just shy of 3. Also managed one small eye. The fish all went back and fished mostly the north end, west side shore and the bald lakes. Colours that worked for me were red, green and black.

Did you get good numbers of fish in the deeper weeds? I was out on the river with my family on Sunday, got a couple decent fish in the main channel. 2-3lb range, tried some mats but nothing but little bass to be found. I didn't venture to the main lake as my honest is only 8 months old, so slow and steady in calmer waters is best.

I just finished a full day on Pigeon, dunking plastic crawfish on a drop shot rig in the weeds. I spent the entire time hopping from one weed bed to another, looking for a big bite but finding only smaller fish. I managed 11 large mouth and 3 smallmouth in about 7 hours of fishing.
One bonus - I managed to pick up a 16" muskie on one of those plastic crawfish! Seriously wasn't expecting a torpedo to be on the end of the line today!

Similar to goshawks post, not really finding them together. The bass I caught in the deeper weeds were spred out had to cover allot of area and only smaller bass, with exception of one close to 3. Looks like murf has them figured out, nice job. I haven't fished the river yet but usually do well in the South end for largies. Mabee this weekend hopefully!
