I hope they last. 100,000 not that many in the grand scheme of things.

lets hope most get to maturity and above the slot size!

would have been nice if they put a 1 or 2 thousand of those in scugog to help out but at least the cormorants will get a good feed in the lake

Walleye fishing has been very good for me in Lake O, glad to see more fish going in, the past few years have been good. Nice healthy fish in the 5lb+ size, nice to see the MNR taking advantage, Hamilton has been a great success.

I like that they're putting in the fund and effort how ever I am not sure I like the spot where they let them go.
Almost seems like more of a PR stunt there.

PR stunt for sure no use for walleye in that area, they should put them in the Kawarthas where people actually fish for walleye when they rent from resorts with their families. But what do I know. I am just a chump who pays taxes and keeps the vaseline at the ready.

why release them in Hamilton ? grossest water in the province.......

Very true! Why dump them where we have some of the best salmon fishing anywhere. Deep cold water

Did anyone else notice that the pic in this article of the walleye is the exact same on used in the "ghost net" article on the G Bay page. Lol

I hope they didn't transplant the rotting fish, not that it would make a different to their edibility in Hamilton harbour.

I've been enjoying the released walleye for years now....
They have released walleye in the harbor a few time's in the last decade..
Huge clean up project going on right now and for the next few years...

Next thing is to get rid of those damn cormarants everywhere....

So the walls have a 200 year life span. What happens to future generations when the walls corrode and leak toxic sediment back into the lake? Something does need to be done but isn't this just like the hundreds of thousands of barrels of waste burried a hundred years ago along the Niagara gorge that now leach into our water system in our current era? What's the plan to protect our future generations from the waste our previous generations created?

I am confused if this plan is just a short term fix or is there a proposed third phase to deal with future issues for our descendants?
