I hit a week know trib yesterday with my Dad just to get some exercise.
Didn’t expect much with no real substantial rain or decent water levels but I took a shot at it.
A couple of nice Chinook and to my surprise two beautiful Atlantic’s. One of the chinooks had a mangled jaw from what I would guess was a injury from a spoon early in life.

im having trouble differentiating Atlantics from Steelheads. What should i look out for? they look identical to me.
Atlantic’s look way more like fresh silver browns than any Steelhead. First Atlantic’s have big spots on their gill plate and their spots on their backs are like an x where Steelhead spots are more round. Steelhead also have spots all over their tails where Atlantic’s do not. If your having difficulty just do a google search for identification of each species. It’s not difficult to tell a Steelhead from an Atlantic at all once you research both species.

Some Atlantic’s do t have the deep fork. I went 5/8 on the today mixed in with a ton of Chinook and one brown. The Atlantic here doesn’t have that deep of a fork tail.
