Snowmobile Requirements

Hi everyone,

I recently picked up a snowmobile that I plan on using this ice fishing season.

Does anyone know the license/insurance requirements on the lake?

I will only be riding this on private property and on the lake.
Never any trails or public roads.

Yeah for the lakes you will need insurance, plates and of course you're plate sticker. You do not need this on private property..

Plate = the registration number on the side of the snowmobile.

In that case... What's everyone paying for snowmobile insurance?

I'm with TD. Just got my renewal and it jumped almost 100 bux to $414 per year. Zero claims for ANY of my policies and the sled never went out last season cuz we had not enough snow here.

Time to start shopping around.

Try Desjardins, I have all my ATV's insured through them. They even asked what I was paying so they could make sure they gave me a better price.

If you need stand alone insurance on a sled only you are going to be hard pressed to beat TD . There a lot of of companies that won't even insure sleds. I have 4 sleds and an Atv insured with them. I pay 540 taxes in full coverage on a new 2018 skidoo backcountry. Which is pretty good.

Under $300 for 2 old sleds...89 phazer and 93 xlt.

Year of the sled makes a big difference - if ti falls under "classic", rates are much cheaper (don't recall the threshold, 25 yrs?)
